I am planning to renew my passport. Current passport is going to expire in October 2008.
Currently my I-485 is pending. If I renew my passport, do I need to update my renewed passport number to USCIS?
I never updated USCIS about the new passport.Recently I re-entered US and used a new passport with AP. I had no issues at all. So, I think it shoud be ok. They may just update your new passport number in the system when you re-enter the country the next time.

It has come to the attention of the Office of Foreign Labor Certification (OFLC) that due to a technical issue, a number of cases were inadvertently identified as pending PERM re-file applications and were withdrawn from the backlog. OFLC is working to rectify this situation immediately by identifying the affected cases, and reinstating them back to the appropriate processing status in proper order. This effort will be completed by November 30, 2006.
Although affected employers and their attorneys will NOT be receiving an additional notice of reinstatement, they may verify their case has been reinstated using the Public Disclosure System (PDS) starting December 1st. Since verification will be available online, employers and attorneys are requested not to contact the Backlog Elimination Centers regarding status.

The Government Accountability Office has released a new report studying the accuracy of the E-Verify database. According to the report, the number of tentative non-confirmations has decreased by 5% over the last two years, an indicator that the system has more complete records than in the past. The report also praised USCIS for instituting new measures to protect the privacy of employees and improve oversight of employers proper use of the system. I have to file a loan application which requires me to state if I am a Lawful Permanent resident alien and I am not sure if I am, can somebody please clarify if I am a Lawful Permanent resident alien or not if I have a pening I-485 application and I am working on EAD?

My uncle just received his L1 extension receipt. Lawyer was late in filing the L1 extension, but supposedly got everything ready and mailed it 2 days before the L1 expiration date.
However, my uncle received recepit for L1 extension, and received date is 2 weeks after the expiration of original L1. Please note I am talking about RECEIVED DATE (not Notice date or receipt date).
Does this mean extension will automatically get rejected based on late filing? Is there any recourse to this?
More importantly, Is my uncle Out of Status now? (He doesn't have anything else going besides L1)
Please let me know as soon as possible.

I want to leave MS and join a different company now ...Question is do you know if MS withdraws I-140 ????

Hi Friends,
Any way to expedite Indian Passport renewal in India. My wife applied the passport renewal in Chennai in Feb 2011. It is almost 3 months. Usually how long it will take ?. Is there a way to contact them to expedite the process.
I applied Tatkal passport renewal for my son in April 2011. It is a month now. Not received.
There is no enough information on whom to contact and how to expedite the service.:(

My spouse is on H4 currently. Have applied for H1 in April 2007 and got the H1 aproved. So the new H1 starts on Oct 2007. However, we applied for 485 and got our EAD's (No recept number, No finger printing etc).
Can my spouse use EAD to start job? we dont want use that new H1 currently. What are the implications if we use EAD? Will the H1 (and my H1) be effected?

Hi,I have filed H1B during August 09 ..my priority dates became current in Sep 09 and I have filed for AOS -485 /EAD ..Should I cancel my H1B or will it automatically get canceled once I receive my EAD ?Please suggest.

My I140 (Bachelor degree, EB3, PD: Nov'04) was approved last month from my previous employer.
I completed my MBA in Jun'06 and joined another company; my job description has changed totally and I can't use previously approved labor for my new job. My new employer will initiate the process of labor, next week.
I checked with my previous employer and he informed me that he is ready to give me a support letter, if I want to go ahead and file I485 based on EB3 I140.
Questions:
Is it possible to file I485, even if we are not working with the employer?
Once I have filed I485 based on my EB3 I140, and if the application remains pending for next 6 months, is it still possible to port the PD (Nov'04) to the new EB2 based petition?
