So far, the USCIS has announced that it received 5,900 H-1B applications for the normal quota and an additional 4,500 for the advanced degree quota. These numbers were released yesterday, April 7, 2011.
In years past, many remember that the H-1B quota was exhausted as early as the first day of applications. Last year, the H-1B cap was not reached until January the following year. I would anticipate that with the economy still rebounding, the H-1B quota will last a significant amount of time. This will also ensure that everyone who can find a job offer this year will have a chance to make an H-1B application. I got H1 this year. I was applied my ssn on oct 9 th. still i didn't get my ssn number. two days back ssn people called and told that "in online it is showing your EAd card. so we can give u ssn if you bring the EAD card". My question is if i give my EAD, will the h1 get cancelled. please suggest me.

If you go to the USCIS website (www.uscis.gov) you can download the EAD application and the list of documents that you are required to submit. My understanding is that the location where you file your EAD is dependent on the State where you live. The EAd application instructions include information on where to file depending on the State where you live.

Can someone comment on how the recent trend has been for a PERM application that was applied under EB2 for a Software Developer position?
My employer is planning to apply one for myself and was wondering if it's a good time to do so?
I've heard that DOL is blatantly denying a large % of applications that are in the audit queue. Is this true? :(

Hello All,
I received a "Notice of intent to Revoke " on my approved I-140 recently. By gods grace, my company was able to get my I-140 reaffirmed.
The status on the USCIS website states as follows.
".....we mailed a notice to you reaffirming the approval of this case and returned the case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly."
We did NOT request for consular processing. Does any one know why USCIS send my case to Department of State?

Your PD is not Current also there is no premium processing for EB2 yet. You can file I140 through your Lawyer.

I filed in EB2 catagory through company A ( small size company )based on future employment
PD- Sep/04.
I-140- Pending.
I am currently working with company B ( Multinational ). My current status is 5th yr H1B ending in Oct 07..Current employer ( Company B ) has finally approved to file PERM labor..
I am struggling to decide if I should file I-485 with company A awail the current dates and at the same time continue to file PERM in next couple of months with company B..
Would it creat any legel wrangling later on?
I am already in my 5 th yr of h1B with company B and there is no guaranteed job opportunity with company A..
Appreciate if any one in the forum could help resolve my situation.

I filed paper based AP at Nebraska service center and got AP in 5 weeks. Pretty painless except paying them 300 for 2 pieces of paper is outrageous.

My wife has H1 approved. Currentlyy she is in India. Her H1B will start from October 1st. I had 2 questions:
1. For stamping does she have to wait till Oct 1st or she can go before also?
2. Based on question 1 if she can go before oct 1st and get visa, can she enter US before 1st october?

If you search the forums, you will find this has been the latest trend , I think for most folks who live and work in CA. Not sure about maintaining the receipt date, I had the same question, but I think the answer is not well known.

If the investment property was under passive investments like absolute NNN lease or TIC investments, then I am guessing it should be alright. Check with an attorney first.
