Not surprising, but surprising that Luis would admit it. And if this is the case (and I think it is), then the question is whether we wait until 2011 or later to push again or finally decide it's time to look at other strategies like piecemeal reform (pass DREAM, AgJobs, legal immigration reform now and deal with legalization later) or look at administrative actions like TPS or parole and a moratorium on deportations for people who would otherwise meet the requirements of a proposed legalization program.

Any clarification in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

In that case, let's say your Combobox is called cmbBox and your Listbox is called lstBox. The code for displaying all of the items from the Combobox into the Listbox would be:
for (int i = 0; i < cmbBox.Items.Count; i++)
{
lstBox.Items.Add(cmbBox.Items[i]);
}
=)
for (int i = 0; i < cmbBox.Items.Count; i++)

Rising tensions are testing Reid-McConnell relations (http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/rising-tensions-are-testing-reid-mcconnell-relations-2007-06-14.html) By Manu Raju, June 14, 2007
Tensions are set to rise between the two parties in the Senate in coming weeks, threatening to stifle the Democratic legislative agenda and test the amicable relationship between Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Republican leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.).
After the collapse of immigration legislation last week over procedural concerns, rhetoric has been heating up. Democrats increasingly blame McConnell, who is up for reelection in 2008, tagging him as an obstructionist. The GOP stuck that same label on then Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), helping defeat him in his reelection bid in 2004.
Some conservatives, upset that the immigration bill came to the floor without committee deliberations, grumble that McConnell is not combative enough with Reid and should challenge anything that does not follow regular Senate order, aides to two conservative senators say.
That could unhinge the cordial relationship between Reid and McConnell, which both say remains strong despite burgeoning battles.
This has not been an easy six months, said Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.). I think our friends on the other side of the aisle have wished to slow things down as much as possible with over and over again motions just to even go to a bill.
Republicans accuse Reid of employing procedural tactics in an unprecedented way to bring legislation to the floor without committee debate, to limit amendments on the floor and to end debate on legislation.
I dont know if he understands the difference being a leader and being a dictator, conservative Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said.
Next week, Reid wants to bring to the Senate floor a bill passed by the House that would make it easier for labor unions to organize workforces, aides say. The bill, long-sought by labor but opposed by business, has not gone through the Senate committee process. Republicans plan to object to the bills consideration, forcing Reid to find 60 votes if the measure is to be considered in the narrowly divided Senate.
Even if the Senate reaches that threshold, Republicans may object to a unanimous consent request to waive 30 hours of debate to proceed to the bill. Doing so would mean debate on the bill would dominate much of the week, which Reid, with scarce floor time and a packed agenda before the July 4 recess, wants to avoid.
Jostling over process reflects the parties hope of framing political debate in the run-up to the 2008 elections, analysts say.
I think Reid is ultimately looking ahead to 08, to shape the partys reputation as much as his own reputation, said Sarah Binder, senior fellow in governance studies at the Brookings Institution. How well the Democrats do in part is going to do depend on what Democrats do in Congress, and he can blame Republicans [for] creating stalemates.
Republicans point out that Reid has filed 39 cloture motions to limit debate or proceed to legislation this Congress, which is on pace to shatter the 68 cloture motions filed in the entire 109th Congress.
[B]The actions of the majority leader in filing cloture so many times this year takes the Senate out of its traditional role and it brings it more towards a House model, where debate is constricted, said Brian Darling, director of Senate relations for the Heritage Foundation.
Two efforts to shut down debate on immigration failed last week after Republicans objected that too few of their amendments were considered during the Senate debate. Republicans complained that the Senate could have moved quickly and finished the immigration debate if Reid had tabled amendments or allowed many of them to be considered simultaneously. Reid retorted that Republicans were objecting to their own amendments and would not agree to a set number of amendments that could be considered.
When the immigration bill fell apart last week, McConnell said, The message to the majority is, its going to take longer than youd like to take, and its going to take more votes than youd like to make. I think they have had to relearn that lesson several times. That is the reason this Congress, at least to this point, has such a paltry list of accomplishments.
Reid shot back this week, saying his frequent use of cloture has been made necessary because of Republican obstruction.
McConnell failed to mention that we have to do that because were not able to do anything without cloture, Reid said. On the most basic bills we did lobbying ethics reform, minimum wage, 9/11 everything that weve had to do, we have to get 60 votes first. So theyve made it very difficult for us.

I'm on H1b visa in my 6th year. Perm application has been filed and I hope to get it approved soon along with approved i-140 (fingers crossed).
From what I have read on this forum so far, H1b transfer to a new job after an approved I-140 seems to be possible even after 6 years on H1. My issue is that I currently work for a university (non-quota H1) so if I get a new job most likely it will be with a for profit company which would require me to get a new H1 (and not H1 transfer).
So, the question is whether it is possible to get a new H1 after 6 years on H1?
Thanks for any help.

If you ever hear someone from the GOP say that Democratic attacks that the GOP is anti-immigrant are unfair, remember that Steve King is the person given the ranking member position on the House Immigration Subcommittee. ThinkProgress reports on the latest nonsense to come from the mouth of Mr. King: Today on G. Gordon Liddys radio show, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) discussed Arizonas new anti-immigration law and claimed President Obamas criticism of it demonstrates that he has a default mechanism in himthat favors the black person. While majorities of Americans and Arizonans support the new law, King also claimed that...

My lawyer selected option "a" in section 2 of I-485 for I-140/I-485 filed concurrently. Some members are saying that their lawyer selected option "h". Can some one tell me what must be the correct option for concurrent filing? If option h is correct, Is it possible to amend the existing petition?
Thanks!!

First, IV truely rocks! Thank you so much guys for all the great work you've done so far!
I've few questions related to I-485 filing:
1. I've single Date-Of-Birth affidavit from both of my parents, will that be an issue? Can USCIS issue me a RFE for not submitting two separate affidavits from each parents?
2. Will it hurt to submit copy of canadian green card having DOB as an additional proof? Also, I'd my fingerprints verified by FBI for canadian immigration, will that speed up my fingerprinting verification for US immigration?
3. I'm only submitting last year 2006 tax return in my 485 filing whereas my lawyers wanted last three IT returns? Will that be a problem?
Thanks a lot in advance for reading my post and answeing my questions.
Please Keep up the good work!

Who Stalled the Intelligence Bill? (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/07/AR2007030702461.html)
Thursday, March 8, 2007
For what could become the third year in a row, the Senate on Tuesday evening did not pass an Intelligence Authorization Bill, over the objection of a lone Republican senator whose name is being protected by his colleagues.
John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, called the delay "one of the more embarrassing efforts I have been associated with in my 24 years in this body." The panel's vice chairman, Sen. Christopher S. Bond (R-Mo.), took the Senate floor Tuesday and called on "any person who has a hold on this bill to come forward and find out what is in the bill."
Rockefeller and Bond have been working over several months to meet objections to items in the bill that the committee passed last May. With changes that Rockefeller and Bond worked out, the measure was reintroduced Jan. 27 and put on the unanimous consent calendar on Feb. 8.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, was named by Congressional Quarterly yesterday as the member who put the bill on hold. A DeMint spokesman said the senator's office "does not comment on holds," but other congressional sources said that DeMint was the one.
Those sources said that they believe the hold is due to White House objections to specific provisions, including public disclosure of the national intelligence budget; a requirement for a report on secret CIA prisons; and response to information requests by the committee chairman and vice chairman within 30 days.
"We have to be able to pass authorization bills if we are to have an impact on the intelligence community," Bond said.

I am in the process of applying for the green card but as the labor department was delayed to send the paperwork by status became out of status, my lawyer suggested me to go back to my country apply for H1B visa and come back. That is why I want to apply for H1B visa . My lawyer tells me that there is no way I can get an approval if my company doesnt show tax return documents for the last 2 years. Is it true or there is another way or documentation which could be used in order to apply for the visa? My boss doesnt want to show the tax returns but accepts to show a bank account and different type of paperwork such as franchise agreements or certificates.
Can you please let me know if my lawyer suggests me the righ way if not which woudl be the best way to continue my green card process and get a result as soon as possible.
Thank You

I am on 6th year of H1B. My visa expires in Sep 2009. My mom is likely to appear for B1 by Oct 2009. My 7th H1B extension has been approved, but I have not stamped the visa
Question:
Do I need to have a stamped visa in my passport for my mom to get a B1? Would US embassy accept copy of I-797 of H1B approval notice?
Thanks for your guidance.
